The first working committee meeting of the Samagi Janabalavegaya was held today.

Officials have been appointed to a number of posts in the party.

The Working Committee meeting was held this morning at the Samagi Janabalawegaya party office in Ethul Kotte under the patronage of the Leader of the Party as well as the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has been appointed as the new Chairman of the party.

MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara will continue to be the General Secretary while Tissa Attanayake will be the National Organizer.

The party has appointed six senior deputy chairmen, including Imtiaz Bakir Marker, Kabir Hashim, Lakshman Kiriella, Rajitha Senaratne, Kumara Welgama and Ravindra Samaraweera.

Eight Vice Presidents were also appointed.

Thalatha Athukorala, Dileep Wedaarachchi, AHM Haleem, Gayantha Karunatilake, Harin Fernando, Chandrani Bandara, P. Harrison and Sujeewa Senasinghe have been appointed to those posts.

In addition, Dr. Harsha de Silva has been appointed as the party's treasurer, while Ajith P. Perera is the party's chief executive officer.

Niroshan Perera has been appointed as the Secretary of International Affairs.

Ashok Abeysinghe, Nalin Bandara, Rohani Kumari Kaviratne and P. Umachandra are the Deputy General Secretaries of the party.

Also, Buddhika Pathirana, JC Alawatuwala and Ranjith Aluvihare were appointed as Deputy National Organizers at today's Working Committee meeting.

Meanwhile, party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara told our news team that MP Patali Champika Ranawaka was present at the Working Committee meeting today as a guest and it was decided to grant him party membership today.
