It has been confirmed today that several school children have been infected with the coronavirus.

Infected students were reported from Kuliyapitiya, Trincomalee, Kataragama and Passara.

Five more coronavirus infected students were reported from Passara Central College and the number of infected students reported from the school has increased to 15.

Ten infected students were first identified from the school on the 22nd.

It has been confirmed that two children from two schools in Kataragama and Sellakataragama have been infected with the coronairus.

They are both grade 11 students.

The child identified from Sella Kataragama school is a resident of Gonagamuwa area in Kataragama and his father has also been diagnosed with coronavirus infection.

The principal of a school in the Kataragama area stated that the child identified from the school had not come to school recently.

Meanwhile, 99 students of 03 schools in Trincomalee have been directed to self quarantine.

This is after a teacher and two students were confirmed to be infected with the virus.

The two students are in grades 03 and 10. The infected teacher has been teaching for grades 02, 05 and 10 at the school.

Two coronavirus infected students from two schools in Kuliyapitiya and Galpola were reported yesterday.

Around 100 people, including students identified as their close associates, were subject to PCR tests today at the Kuliyapitiya Medical Officer of Health office.

Meanwhile, schools in the Western Province were reopened today only for O / L students after nearly six months.

However, the attendance percentage of students in schools in the Colombo District was recorded as 37% today.

The Ministry of Education stated that the percentage of attendance in the Gampaha District was 47.4%. Also, the attendance percentage of students in the Kalutara district has been recorded as 27.4% today.

The highest percentage of 65.5% was reported from the Matugama region.
