US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Alaina B. Teplitz, while welcoming Sri Lanka's initiative to appoint a commission to look into the alleged human rights violations, says it should function in an open and transparent manner.

She noted that supporting Human Rights is not bullying or a threat to the sovereignty of Sri Lanka.
