A new variant of Covid-19(B.1.258 lineage) that has a higher transmissibility rate, has been detected in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, University of Sri Jayawardenapura states that this new variant has been spreading in the UK, Denmark, Iceland, Germany & Switzerland.
