The Court of Appeal today issued a notice to a group including the Education Minister G.L. Peiris to appear before the court.

It is related to a petition seeking the issuance of a writ order preventing the implementation of the decision taken to admit students to the University based on the district quota system and the classification received for the new and old syllabi.

The petition was filed by a female student residing in Ambalangoda.

She had pointed out in her petition that she had been treated unfairly by this new methodology as she was about to enter the medical faculty after sitting for the Advanced Level Biology stream in 2019.
