The Ministry of Finance has launched a special program to prevent people from resorting to microfinance institutions to obtain loans at high-interest rates.

State Minister of Samurdhi, Household Economy, Micro Finance, Self Employment and Business Development Sheshan Semasinghe stated that Rs. 300,000 will be released to Samurdhi community-based organizations.

Accordingly, the public will be able to obtain a loan of Rs. 10,000 at concessionary interest rates through Samurdhi Community Financial Organizations.
