Russia reports cases of birds to human infected virus

Russia reports cases of the H5N8 virus, which is a type of bird flu virus, that was had infected humans in a poultry farm.

A spokeswoman for the country's Consumer Health Regulatory Authority said seven cases of bird flu had been reported in the country since last December.

This is the first reported case of H5N8 virus infection in humans, although there were previous reports of bird flu virus infections in humans.

Russian authorities have said they have taken steps to prevent the virus from spreading further, and have stepped up tests.
