India has reached an agreement to strengthen maritime security in the Maldives.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is currently on a visit to the Maldives and the relevant agreement was signed today.
Under the agreement, a loan of US$ 50 million will be provided to enhance maritime security in the Maldives.
The relevant agreement for defence projects was entered into by the Ministry of Finance of the Maldives and the Export-Import Bank of India.
