Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket has taken steps to hand over the captaincy of the Sri Lanka 20 overs cricket team to Dasun Shanaka during the tour of the West Indies.
Lasith Malinga, who was the regular captain of the Sri Lanka T20 team, did not play in any international matches after last year's series against the West Indies and was therefore not included in the 35-man squad for the tournament.
However, Malinga has not yet announced his retirement from T 20 international cricket.
Sri Lanka have named a 20-man squad for the ODI and T20 cricket series between the two countries.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa who failed the fitness test has been dropped.
Kusal Janith Perera, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Kasun Rajitha and Isuru Udana have been left out due to due to injuries.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to recall Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, Ashen Bandara and young fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka who excelled in local cricket.
Meanwhile, the Cricket Committee has nominated Tom Moody, a former coach of the Sri Lanka Cricket team, as the Director of Sri Lanka Cricket.
The final decision in this regard will be taken by the Cricket Executive Committee.
