Suspect remanded for six months for stealing money from church collection till

It was reported yesterday that a person convicted of breaking into a church and stealing money was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment.

Gampaha Chief Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne has sentenced a man from Minuwangoda - Dewalapola area to life imprisonment for breaking into the collection till of the Holy Cross Church in Gampaha and stealing money.

It was revealed that the suspect who was sentenced was robbed of money on five previous occasions.

The judge sentenced the other suspect who committed the theft with him to 6 months imprisonment and suspended it for 5 years.
