Risk of a fuel shortage in the new year

Sunday, 11 April 2021 - 16:38

The Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association states that there is a risk of a fuel shortage in the new year.

They point out that the March payments made generally in the first week of April each year have not been made this time.

The previous administration had arranged for the March payments to the owners of the transport tanks, usually on or before the 7th or 8th of April.

However, they point out that they have been inconvenienced due to the non-payment of their payments so far this year.

They further point out that this has led to a serious crisis in the payment of salaries and festival bonus to their employees, and that there is a risk of a fuel shortage during the New Year season due to employee shortages.
