Cabinet approves setting of a regulatory framework for coastal commercial vessels

The Cabinet approved a proposal to formulate a National Regulatory Framework for Coastal Merchant Vessels due to the increase in passenger and cargo from ships with the growth of tourism-related activities.

A Cabinet paper submitted by the Ports and Shipping Minister was approved and the Export Development Board, in collaboration with the Ministry of Development Strategies and the Ministry of International Trade, is to launch a project to develop a regulatory framework for this in collaboration with the Ministry of Ports and Shipping.
