BCCI announces limited-overs squad for Sri Lanka tour

Thursday, 10 June 2021 - 23:19

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian cricket squad for the 2021 tour of Sri Lanka.

Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain of the Indian cricket team for the tour of Sri Lanka.

Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as the vice-captain.

India will play a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20 series in Sri Lanka in July.

The first ODI of the series is scheduled for 13 July.

The R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo is set to play host to all six white-ball games. While an official confirmation is awaited, it remains highly unlikely that crowds will be allowed keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation and the recent mishaps endured by IPL and PSL 2021 seasons.

The Indian cricket authorities have decided to name a second-tier squad for the tour of Sri Lanka, as all the top players of the Indian team are scheduled to travel to England for a five-match Test series against England.

India’s squad: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (Wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Vice-captain), Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya
