Statements obtained regarding the death of a 16 year old at Bathiudeen's house

Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that statements were recorded from six persons yesterday regarding the incident where a 16 year old girl was burnt to death in the residence of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

He said that statements have been recorded from the mother, stepfather, brother, sister and two young women who had been brought to the house previously by the same broker who had brought the victim to the house.

Meanwhile, State Minister of Women and Child Development, Pre-School and Primary Education School Infrastructure Piyal Nishantha stated at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday that his ministry has also commenced a formal investigation into the death of the girl.
