Sri Lanka covid update: 47 deaths - 1604 infected persons identified

With the identification of 1,604 new covid infected persons yesterday, the total number of  covid infections in the country has increased to 289,577.

Accordingly, 21,949 patients are being treated at the hospital and the total number of recovered patients have increased to 263,758.

With the 47 coronavirus related deaths reported from Sri Lanka, the total death toll has increased to 3917.

Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the police have taken steps to tighten the quarantine rules during the long weekend which begins tomorrow.

He said that steps have been taken to increase the number of inspections by deploying additional police officers to the provincial boundaries.
