Successful onions & dragon fruits cultivation using organic fertilizer

While there are many discussions in the society regarding the lack of fertilizer required for crops, there were reports regarding onions and dragon fruits cultivation in Mahaweli D Zone, Anuradhapura using alternative fertilizer methods.

Farmers in Madatugama, Kuda Alagamuwa, Murunga Hitikanda and 642 Thulana in Mahaweli D Zone, Anuradhapura have been using organic fertilizer to harvest these crops successfully.

The farmers stated that in a period where dragon fruits are highly priced, an income of Rs 2.5 million to 3 million is earned from one acre of land.

These farmers who produce the fertilizer they need in their own backyards set a great example to the farmers who complain regarding the lack of chemical fertilizer.
