The order was issued when the suspects were produced before Galle Chief Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela today (22).
The Magistrate also ordered that the fingerprint records of the suspects be obtained as per a request made by the officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau.
The officers of the Narcotics Bureau informed the court that further investigations are being carried out as it is suspected that there are foreign connections behind this drug racket.
The police officer and two others arrested on 18 June near the Baddegama entrance of the Southern Expressway were found in possession of 52.728 kilograms of heroin.
Presenting the suspects in court, the officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau stated that the investigation into the incident is not over, and it has been revealed that the suspect SI had been transporting drugs in uniform before.
He also requested the Superintendent of Prisons to issue an order to separate the suspects from the other suspects after their imprisonment.
The officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau further requested the court to issue an order to the telephone companies to provide call analysis reports of 10 more telephone numbers, as they have received information that there are foreign connections behind this drug racket.
After considering the facts, the Magistrate issued an order to the Superintendent of Prisons and the telephone companies.
The suspects were apprehended by the Organized Crime Prevention Officers along with the drugs while they were on their way to Hikkaduwa from Badulla on their way to Colombo in a car in uniform.
It has been revealed that the drugs belong to Salidu Malshika Gunasekera alias 'Panadura Salidu' who is currently abroad.
It has been revealed that the SI had previously transported drugs belonging to the criminal in the same car and had contact with him through the WhatsApp.
