Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also paid attention to the news report regarding the exorbitant room rates and other charges levied from migrant workers by the hotels that provide quarantine facilities,

The Minister was commenting on the revelation made by the Hiru News team regarding exorbitant rates charged for overnight stay amounting to nearly 50,000 per night for a single person in some hotels.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga arrived in Katunayake today to inspect the newly constructed PCR laboratory premises.

If Covid tests are conducted and the reports are released for tourists within a short period of time, is it fair to treat Sri Lankan migrant workers poorly and not let them have access to the facilities, instead send them under hotel quarantine to strengthen the Sri Lankan economy?

Hiru CIA invites anyone subjected to such incidents to provide information on 0770 322 821.
