Covid vaccination for children : Age group to be decided today (Video)

A discussion will be held today regarding the age of the children that would be given vaccinations against COVID-19. Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that the relevant discussion will centre around the re-opening of schools.

State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control, Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle also spoke about the urgency to reopen schools.

She stated that action will be taken to vaccinate children after conducting tests under a scientific method.

However, Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath stated that vaccination is not the main factor in opening schools.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella also stated that steps are being taken to investigate whether the same vaccine or an alternative could be provided for persons in Kandy awaiting the second dose for the Sputnik V vaccine.
