Retired Govt clerk arrested for cultivating cannabis

In a raid carried out in the Horahena area in Kottawa yesterday, Kottawa Police have arrested a man who was cultivating cannabis.

According to the police, he had been cultivating cannabis under the guise of cultivating bananas.

During the raid, police found four four-foot-tall and two-and-a-half-foot-tall cannabis plants that had been carefully planted.

The suspect is a 67-year-old retired clerk of the Ministry of Sports and a resident of Horahena, police said.

The suspect is to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate's Court today.
