The European Union (EU) has called on Sri Lanka to implement UNHRC Resolution 46/1 on promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka

Addressing the UN Human Rights Council on behalf of the European Union, Anita Pipan, the Permanent Representative of Slovenia made these remarks.

The European Union (EU) has expressed regret over Sri Lanka's decision not to support the UN framework in finding solutions to past crises.

Although Sri Lanka has expressed its desire for lasting reconciliation with the establishment of the Office on Missing Persons and the Office on Resettlement, it is essential that these institutions remain independent.

However, China has stated that it opposes external interference in Sri Lanka's internal affairs.

The Chinese envoy made this statement while participating in the debate on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' oral statement on Sri Lanka.
