The Ministry of Education stated that only 2,922 applications have been received for the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) to be held this year.

Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera stated that 6,589 applications have been received for the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.

The deadline for applications for the GCE Advanced Level and Scholarship examinations ended today (15).

School candidates submit their applications to the Department of Examinations through the principals.

However, the Teachers' Principals' Trade Unions recently decided not to proceed with the students' examination applications until the issue of teachers' salary anomalies is resolved.

Accordingly, the number of applications for the GCE Advanced Level and Scholarship examinations this year has decreased significantly.
