Use of Merck capsule in Sri Lank for covid - request for recommendations (Video)

State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that a request has been made to the Director General of Health Services to make the necessary recommendations for the use of a capsule of the Merck Pharmaceutical Company, which is currently being used in several countries around the world to control coronavirus.

Earlier this month, study results showed that molnupiravir, Merck’s investigational antiviral pill, cut hospitalization rates of Covid-19 patients by about half. Molnupiravir is the first oral treatment that has shown promise in treating Covid-19. Another antiviral, remdesivir, can only be administered intravenously.
