Fuel prices to be increased if relief is not received from the Finance Ministry

Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila says that fuel prices will have to be increased if relief is not received from the Finance Ministry.

He said that the I.O.C. company has requested an increase of Rs. 15 per liter of petrol and Rs. 20 per liter of diesel.

In addition, the Minister of Energy pointed out that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has also requested for an increase in fuel prices.

Meanwhile, prices of many other raw materials in the construction sector have also risen sharply, with traders and consumers saying there is a shortage of those items.
