The Ellawala waterfall in the Wellawaya Divisional Secretariat has been closed to tourists until further notice.

This is with the recent incident where a father and two children of the same family died after goind for a swim.

The Wellawaya Environmental Committee has taken this decision considering the fact that 6 people have died at the Ellawala waterfall in the recent past.

Wellawaya Divisional Secretary Chandana Ratnayake stated that the Ellawala waterfall will be reopened to tourists after a security arrangement is made.
