Chinese National Deported After Attempted Entry with Fake Passport Sparks Controversy

The Chinese national, who was accused of trying to enter the country with a fake passport, has been deported.

The Ministry of Public Security stated that yesterday he was deported to China from the Katunayake Airport.

Recently, he tried to enter the country with a passport from  Guinea and was detained by the immigration officers at the airport because the passport was found to be fake.

But later he presented a Chinese passport that he had and accordingly this Chinese national was allowed to enter the country.

State Minister Arundika Fernando was accused of intervening in the matter, and subsequently the incident let to controversy and the concerned Chinese was called to the Immigration Department and arrested.

He then filed a writ petition seeking an order to extradite him to Dubai instead of extraditing him to China, which was rejected by the appeal court.

It was later revealed that a Chinese government court had issued a warrant for the arrest of this Chinese national on drug related charges.
