India 213 (Rohit 53, Rahul 39, Wellalage 5-40, Asalanka 4-18) beat Sri Lanka 172 (Wellalage 42*, de Silva 41, Kuldeep 4-43, Bumrah 2-30, Jadeja 2-33) by 41 runs

India beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs after Sri Lanka lost their last four wickets for 10 runs.

Sri Lanka in response to the 213 scored by India were all out for 172 runs in the 42 over.

With this win India qualified for the Final. The winners of the Sri Lanka Paksitan match will qualify for the finals to meet India.

So India was too good for Sri Lanka in the end, in what turned out to be quite the low-scoring thriller. The margin of victory doesn't tell the whole story, since Sri Lanka had India on the ropes when Wellalage and Dhananjaya were going strong in their 63-run 7th wicket stand. But once the latter fell, the tail just couldn't hang on, on what was a difficult surface at the Premadasa stadium.

Dunith Wellalage continued from where he left with the ball as he single handedly guided the Sri Lanka team close to victory. It was a valiant effort from this fantastic all rounder who has shown his capabilities in the under 19 format, now showcasing his skill against one of the best ODI teams in the world playing at full strength.

Having routed the Indians for 213, the Sri Lanka batters found it tough with a combination of poor selection of strokes and decision making. Dunith Wellalage as stranded on 42 made out of 46 balls.

Earlier, Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka shone as the hosts bundled India out for 213 runs. Wellalage returned with a five-wicket haul (5 for 40) while Asalanka picked 4 for 18. Rohit Sharma with a 53-run knock was the highest scorer for the Indian side. India skipper Rohit had won the toss and opted to bat.

Dasun Shanaka: "We didn't expect this kind of a wicket, but after the first 10 overs we came into the match brilliantly with the spinners. The luxury of the two genuine batters bowling is great, they've done well in the nets but it was great how they performed. [Wellalage?] After the last game with Bangladesh I sensed he would do something special."

But despite the result, this was a day that belonged to Dunith Wellalage. With the ball he grabbed a five-for, and with the bat he nearly stole the win for his side. He also took an excellent catch to complete a tremendous all-round performance.
