Travis Head has provided one of the great Australian cricket innings to silence 130,000 Indian fans and put his side in command of the Cricket World Cup final.

Head took a stunning catch to dismiss rival dangerman Rohit Sharma earlier in Sunday's showpiece and then stepped up with the bat to score a mammoth 100 runs off 95 balls for his side.

The left-hander is the first batter to reach the three-digit mark in a World Cup summit clash since Sri Lanka captain Jayawardene achieved the feat in 2011 against India at the Wankhede Stadium.

Australia opener Travis Head became the seventh batter to score a century in an ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

He reached his hundred off 95 balls with a single off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav in the 34th over.
