Nearly 5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, known as ‘Ice’, with a street value of approximately Rs. 200 million, were seized today at the Central Post Exchange in Colombo.

The discovery was made by officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division during a routine check of a parcel sent from Islamabad, Pakistan, to an address in the Modara area of Colombo. This marks the largest seizure of drugs at the Central Mail Exchange to date.

The narcotics were hidden inside a parcel designed to look like a mattress. Following the inspection and discovery, three suspects connected to the parcel were arrested.

The Customs Drug Control Division continues to investigate the origins and intended recipients of this significant drug shipment.
