A foreign woman who was visiting Sri Lanka has drowned while swimming at Mirissa beach, according to Weligama police. The tragic incident occurred on the afternoon of the 13th.
The 37-year-old tourist from South Korea was reportedly swept away by a current. Lifeguards from the Coast Guard managed to bring her ashore, but despite being rushed to Matara Hospital, she had already passed away.
