An inmate of the Galle Prison has reportedly died of meningitis, the Prisons Director of Health confirmed. The deceased, a 26-year-old man, succumbed to the disease, commonly referred to as brain fever.

Meanwhile, three other inmates who are suspected to be infected with meningitis have been admitted to the hospital for further treatment and observation. The prison authorities are taking necessary precautions to prevent further spread of the infection among the inmate population.

The Director of Prison Health has stated that additional medical evaluations and measures are being implemented to address the situation promptly.
