Galle, November 3, 2024 – Doctors at the Karapitiya National Hospital in Galle have called off a strike that began last night in response to alleged threats by the specialist overseeing the hospital's cancer ward.
Dr. Asanka Konara, Secretary of the Karapitiya branch of the Government Medical Officers' Association, stated that the strike was suspended after the Secretary to the Ministry of Health promised to transfer the specialist to another hospital.
