Kala Oya sluice gates opened due to heavy rains

Kala+Oya+sluice+gates+opened+due+to+heavy+rains
The two emergency spillways (sluice gates) of the Kala Oya have been opened following heavy rains in the upper catchment areas.

According to the engineer in charge, the sluice gates were activated as the water level reached 83,721 acre-feet. Water is now being discharged into the Kala Oya at a rate of 1,018 acre-feet per second.
