A group of independent trade union members of the Water Supply Board Revenue Assistants protested today in front of the head office in Ratmalana, raising several demands.

The Teachers Principals Trade Union Alliance also announced plans for a trade union action if positive solutions are not found within three days regarding promotions, salary increments, and service confirmations.

Venerable Tampitiye Sugathananda Thero, a member of the National Committee of the Workers’ Struggle Center, called for a Rs. 20,000 salary increase for government employees in the upcoming budget.

Meanwhile, the Inter-University Federation and several other trade unions organized protests today, highlighting demands to be addressed in the upcoming budget.

The Inter-University Students Federation held a protest in front of the Colombo Fort Railway Station, calling for the allocation of 6 percent of the budget for education and the removal of VAT on school equipment. This protest followed an order from the Fort Magistrate's Court barring them from entering areas including the Presidential Secretariat.
