Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne endorsed the certificate for the Appropriation Bill for 2025 , in accordance with Article 79 of the Constitution.

The Second Reading debate on the Bill took place from 2.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. The Third Reading vote was held around 7.40 p.m., with 159 votes in favor and 45 against, passing the Bill by a majority of 114 votes.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, presented the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill on February 17. The Second Reading debate was held from February 18 to 25, and the vote on February 25 resulted in a 109-vote majority.

The Committee Stage debate followed from February 27 until today. With the Speaker’s endorsement, the Appropriation Bill now becomes Appropriation Act No. 3 of 2025.
