Three persons, including a female suspect, have been arrested in connection with the murder of social activist Dan Priyasad.
Priyasad succumbed to his injuries this morning (23), after being shot at during a party held on the sixth floor at the 'Laksanda Sevana' apartment complex in Meethotamulla on Tuesday night (22).
Two unidentified gunmen, riding a motorcycle, opened fire before fleeing the scene, according to Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent Buddhika Manatunga.
The 39-year-old Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate for the Kolonnawa Municipal Council was subsequently rushed to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, where initial reports mistakenly confirmed his death.
However, it was later clarified that he was still alive but in critical condition.
He was eventually confirmed dead early today.
