Police have recovered the body of a female Development Officer (DO) from the Mahaweli River near the Getambe bridge in Peradeniya, today (16).
The victim, a single woman from the Deltota area, is believed to be the same person whose bag was found near the bridge, last night.
Police stated that they are investigating to decide whether the death was a murder or a suicide.
Kandy Acting Magistrate Mahinda Liyanage conducted the magisterial inquiry at the scene, and Peradeniya Police are continuing with further investigations.
