The UNICEF Representative to Sri Lanka, Emma Brigham, stated that Sri Lanka is making a real change for children in line with global agreements.

She made these remarks at an inaugural ceremony held in Kandy following the opening of a child-friendly courtroom at the Kandy High Court complex.

Brigham emphasised that the protection and access to justice for children who are victims of violence are crucial, and a mechanism to achieve this is being built within Sri Lanka.

She explained that the process of providing justice for a child victim involves several institutions, and this new initiative creates a foundation to bring them all together in one place.

She welcomed this transformative change and expressed her hope that such services will be expanded across the entire country.
