President Anura Kumara Dissanayake attended the Industry Expo 2025 exhibition held this morning (19) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

The President visited the exhibition stalls and engaged in discussions with the participating entrepreneurs and industrialists.

Aiming to steer the country towards an export-oriented production economy, the Industry Expo 2025 exhibition is organised by the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development together with the Industrial Development Board of Sri Lanka. The exhibition is being held from 18–21 September at the BMICH, representing the entire industrial sector.

The primary objective of this exhibition is to seek solutions to the numerous issues and challenges faced by the country in industrial development.

It also seeks to introduce key contributors to the promotion of the national product at a national level, recognise and appreciate their contribution to the country’s development before the public and other stakeholders and cultivate a positive outlook towards the entrepreneurial community.

In addition, the exhibition encourages public interest in entrepreneurship, creates opportunities for industrialists to initiate and expand businesses and provides motivation towards those ends. It also opens access to new local and international markets through strengthened market linkages, enabling participants to evaluate competitiveness. Furthermore, the exhibition provides a platform to identify strengths and weaknesses, gain knowledge and practical experience in new technologies and foster innovation.

The event also gives entrepreneurs and industrialists a unique opportunity to identify support institutions in the field of industrial development and to become aware of the benefits available through them.

The exhibition features 450 stalls representing 25 industrial sectors, with participation from industrialists across the island.

A special highlight of this year’s event is the Innovation Zone, showcasing contributions from schools, universities and both public and private sector institutions. In addition, stalls under the School Entrepreneurship Club programme will display products created by schoolchildren.

The exhibition also includes a service stall from the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD), as well as a One Stop Service stall representing all state and banking institutions providing support to the industrial sector.

Moreover, Industry Expo 2025 brings together suppliers of essential machinery, packaging materials and other components required by industrialists, creating further opportunities for collaboration.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, also joined the occasion.
