WASPS+ATTACK+TEA+ESTATE+WORKERS+IN+BAGAWANTHALAWA

13 tea estate workers were hospitalised in Bagawanthalawa today after being attacked by wasps.


The district medical officer for the Bagawanthalawa Regional Hospital, A.S.K. Jayasuriya, said that 12 women and one man were admitted for treatment.


The incident occurred at the Kotiyagala tea estate in the Bagawanthalawa police division, where the workers were plucking tea leaves.


The wasps were disturbed after one of the female workers accidentally stepped on a nest that had been built on a tea bush.


Bagawanthalawa police are investigating the incident.
