A detention order for 72 hours has been granted to the police for the questioning of Ishara Sewwandi and the five other suspects who were recently brought back to the country after being arrested in Nepal.


The six individuals, including Ishara Sewwandi, arrived on the island yesterday afternoon (October 15) on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 182 from Kathmandu, at approximately 6:54 PM.


 Her identity was reconfirmed at the Katunayake Airport using the installed facial recognition technology.


The Police Media Spokesman confirmed that four of the suspects, including Ishara Sewwandi, were handed over to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) for investigations.


The remaining two were referred to the Peliyagoda Divisional Crime Investigation Unit and the Western Province South Crime Division.
