Tangalle Police report that a multiday fishing trawler, “Dinesha – 02”, carrying six fishermen from the Kudawella Fisheries Harbour, has been missing since September 9.


The trawler’s owner, Andrahennadige Chaminga (35) of West Kudawella, Nakulugamuwa, filed a complaint with Tangalle Police on October 19, noting that the vessel had last made contact with the shore about five days earlier.


The crew aboard the trawler includes skipper L. H. Lahiru Prasad (29) from Devgampura, Kapugama, Devinuwara, along with five other fishermen: Wijesiri Dissanayaka (59), L. H. Ruwan Sameera (34), P. M. Lalith Prasanna (37), all from Pattiyhena, Devinuwara; Roshan Kumara Karunaratne (34) from Pallekanda, Omalpe; and M. H. Pasindu Dilsara (20) from Hanwella, Dikwella.


The Tangalle Police have informed the Sri Lanka Navy and other relevant agencies, and efforts are ongoing to locate the missing trawler. Investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
