Organised by the Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the IMW is a major platform that brings together global maritime leaders, industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss port infrastructure, logistics, and sustainable maritime development.
During the visit, Minister Karunathilaka is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with his Indian counterpart, Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal.
The main focus of these talks will be to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in the areas of port development, shipping, and logistics.
The Minister will also attend the high-level Ministerial Plenary Session of the Maritime Week, meet with prominent figures from the maritime and industrial sectors, and participate in observation tours of several key locations.
The Indian High Commission emphasised that the Sri Lankan Minister's participation underscores the deep economic partnership between Sri Lanka and India and their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, logistics, and infrastructure development.
