The investigative officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) have arrested two individuals on charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe to secure a government job.

The accused are,
Ruppe Gedara Madusha Dilipana jayasooriya: A former official of the Department of Fisheries.

Indika Bandara Wijesundara: A former staff officer of the Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction, Indika Bandaranayake.

The two suspects were arrested following an investigation into the charge of soliciting and accepting Rs. 245,000 as part of a bribe.

The full bribe amount requested was Rs. 500,000 for securing a labourer's job at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

They had allegedly demanded an initial payment of Rs. 250,000, with the remainder to be paid after the job was secured.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
