Cabinet approval has been granted to recruit 8,547 new individuals to the public service.
This cohort is set to be recruited into government ministries, provincial councils, and commissions.
The largest number of recruits, 5,198 individuals, will be absorbed by the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
Other key allocations include 1,261 for the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; 414 for the Western Provincial Council; and 355 for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Cabinet approval was previously given on December 30, 2024, to appoint an official committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, to review the public service recruitment process, identify needs, priorities, and timelines, and take steps regarding essential recruitments.
Based on requests submitted by the respective ministries for filling vacant positions in their departments and other institutions, this committee provided its recommendations at a meeting held on the 2nd of this month.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has granted approval to the relevant ministries and institutions to proceed with the recruitment process.
