A meeting occurred between former President and leader of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, Mahinda Rajapaksa, and National People's Power (NPP) Kalutara District Member of Parliament, Chandima Hettiarachchi.

The meeting took place recently at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Sankassapura Sri Sambudhdharaja Maha Vihara Mandiraya at Sri Buddhasiri Maha Viharaya in Moragolla, Beruwala.

Upon the former President's arrival at the event, he was welcomed by Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Piyal Nishantha, Jagath Vithana, and Chandima Hettiarachchi̇.

The friendly exchange began with MP Hettiarachchi asking, "How are you, Sir? All well?" to which former President Rajapaksa replied, "Not bad."

MP Hettiarachchi then inquired, "Sir, did you come to this ceremony all the way from Tangalle?" and former President Rajapaksa confirmed, "Yes, I came to this ceremony from Tangalle."

A brief but cordial conversation followed between the two.

The discussion, which was held affectionately with the two leaders holding hands, drew the attention of many people present at the venue.
