The Sri Lanka Navy ship SLNS Suranimala left the Colombo port today (14) for Malé, Maldives, to participate in the 17th edition of the "DOSTI XVII – 2026" naval exercise. The Navy reports that the vessel represents Sri Lanka in the multinational exercise organised by the Maldives National Defence Force.

The exercise, scheduled to take place from January 16 to 19, aims to strengthen the maritime security cooperation between Sri Lanka, India, and the Maldives. Participation confirms a collective commitment to regional stability and safety.

Engagement in such regional drills provides the Sri Lanka Navy with opportunities to improve interoperability and mutual cooperation with neighbouring forces. This platform allows for the exchange of maritime operational knowledge, tactics, and experience while identifying collective solutions to emerging regional challenges.
