Three Buddhist nuns sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Hambantota General Hospital yesterday evening (30) after a three-wheeler and two lorries collided in the Nugekanda area of Suriyawewa.

The collision occurred when a three-wheeler entering the main road from a side road struck an oncoming lorry and subsequently crashed into another small lorry parked on the roadside.

Suriyawewa Police state that reckless driving by the three-wheeler driver caused the incident.

The driver of the three-wheeler and the three nuns traveling in the vehicle were admitted to the Hambantota Hospital with severe injuries.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Suriyawewa Police regarding the matter.
