12 state-of-the-art colposcopy machines were added to the hospital system for patient care to diagnose cervical cancer and improve the efficiency of related treatment services, the Ministry of Health states.

Plans are also in place to install 6 more machines within the coming month, the ministry mentioned, issuing a statement.

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media spent over 72 million rupees for this, with each machine valued at Rs. 6 million.

These machines were installed in teaching and district general hospitals in Anuradhapura, Badulla, Batticaloa, Jaffna, Kandy, Gampaha, and Matara.
