Speaking to the media after the Poson Committee meeting held at the historic Mihintale sacred site, the chief prelate said that the government allocation for this year’s Poson festival is insufficient due to rising fuel prices and the current economic situation.
This year’s Poson Week will be held at the Mihintale sacred grounds from June 26 to July 2 under the theme 'May the flames of war be extinguished by the power of Anubudu’s virtues.'
A special discussion in this regard was held under the patronage of Ven. Walawahengunuwewe Dhammarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya.
District Secretary of Anuradhapura, government officials, police, tri-forces personnel, and representatives of voluntary organisations also participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Anuradhapura District Poson Committee meeting was held under the patronage of Ven. Ithala Wetunuwewe Gnathilaka Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Atamasthana, with the participation of District Secretary Ranjith Wimalasuriya.
